Breathwork is called by many different names including Rebirthing, Transformational Breathwork, Conscious Breathing, Holotropic Breathwork, Shamanic Breathwork(TM), Pranayama, Buteyko and many more. While the names are different
and each style uses a different technique, the goals are basically the same: to bring about healing using the breath. The healings occur within our physical body, our emotional body, our psychic body and our spirit body.
Using the breath to heal trauma, bring about wholeness and experience a connection to universal consciousness has been practiced for thousands of years. This modality was basically lost to western societies until the 1970's due to the work of several key individuals including Leonard Orr, Sondra Ray, Bob Mandel and Stan Grof. The work is now practiced throughout the world and has healed thousands of people.

The session includes a review of the process and intention setting at the beginning and a discussion afterwards which is entirely client driven. The breathing process itself usually takes at least an hour and can last quite longer. While there is no such thing as a 'typical or average' breathwork session, usually a person experiences a build up of energy - tingling, vibrating and surging of life force through the physical and energy bodies. The real 'gold' of a Rebirthing session is without a doubt the physical and emotional releases that can occur. Uncovering and releasing old emotions that block our energy is often the result. People can experience a range of emotions momentarily or for the duration of the session. I have seen clients laugh and cry and laugh again all in the space of a minute. The important thing is to simply experience whatever it is that needs to be expressed and breathe through it as it passes. Ultimately, a sense of freedom and peace is most commonly experienced.
I work in a dedicated space in my home in Palm Springs CA. The space is both private and comfortable with a view to the backyard and pool. Many clients comment on how nice it is to "come back" to themselves in such a peaceful setting. If you prefer I can come to you if you're close to Palm Springs for a small additional fee. I do occasionally travel to the Los Angeles area as well as San Diego. We can discuss fees and arrangements for those distances.
