I've described what a typical session is like on the Breathwork Page. Breathwork can just as effective in a group as in a private session. In fact, in a group setting, there is often a synergy of energies. As your session builds, so do the experiences of others in the group. This can deepen the experience for everyone. Oftentimes, the breathers' experience can include giving voice to emotions, freedom of movement and differing breathing patterns. I feel this can usually give permission for everyone in the group to surrender to the process and not hold back or judge their own experience.
The session lasts approximately 2 hours and begins with introductions and the creating of sacred space. A short introduction of the work is followed by the opportunity for everyone to share their intention for the session, should they wish. Once everyone is ready, we begin the cycle of breathing. I give my attention to everyone in the room and hold consciousness for the highest and best experience for everyone. Of course, there are no expectations.
As each person completes their session, they have the time and space for personal reflection on what came up during the session. Once everyone is complete, we come together again as a group and everyone is offered the opportunity to share, should they wish. After a short closing discussion, we close the sacred space that we have created together.
Preparation
To prepare for a group session - or any breathwork session for that matter - eat a light meal no closer than 1.5 hours before breathing and wear loose comfortable clothing. If the session is at the Yoga Loft, mats, pillows and blankets are available and please feel free to bring your own if you wish. Come with an open mind and heart or prepare for openings.
Dates
